Overview

Our destination will be Kardamili.

A full day away from Naplio, full of adventure, amazing scenery, and fun! We start our day by picking you up from the hotel and head to Kardamili. You meet your guides at the village square and start with a small briefing.

Picture this scene from one km: A road snakes along a sheer cliff side, above peacock-blue bays, dark cypresses and a sea of olive trees in the heart of the Peloponnese. On one side of the horizon is the placid gulf of Messinia, on the other, the looming presence of Mt Taygetos. Between them the scene of sturdy-looking stone houses, built to last, is softened by the fertile soil at their base. This used to be a destination for the chosen few – the diamond of Messinian Mani. But its contrasts have captured the hearts of many visitors, and they keep coming back for more. To get to know it like they do, visit the old fortress town, take a dip at Ritsa beach, spend your nights in one of its many delightful boutique hotels, have a meal at famous tavernas and chill out at some of the sophisticated little bars. By then you'll be hooked and you'll never forget Kardamyli. 

The place: This route is a small trek to the place and the traditions of outer Mani where every stone has its own history. Here, the magnificence of the mountainous nature is harmoniously combined with the allure of the sea as gigantic mount Taygetos is so close from the embrace of the Mediterranean.

The activity: Our tour starts from the fortified tower houses of old Kardamili as we follow the path that once was part of the ancient so called ''royal road'' connecting Kardamili with Sparta. Along the way we visit some of the traditional, beautiful little villages of the region, we walk through their narrow streets as we learn about their past. In a small distance ahead, mount Taygetos stands snowed in some of its highest peaks. A small break for a healthy snack with local products gives us additional supply of energy. A burst of colors and fragrances of flowers and herbs overwhelm us and bring us even closer to the natural environment. We walk through an easy route, sometimes a stone built path and sometimes a shady pathway, immersed in olive trees, pines and cypress trees. Along the way we discover all the elements and images that make up the scenery of Mani, narrate its past and lifestyle of Mani inhabitants throughout time. At the finish we will have a good meal to full up our batteries before heading back to Nafplio.
